Beverley has managed some mashed potato with bouillon, more oatmeal and more miniature squares of white bread with the nutty butter on it. Her liver enymes are either stable or decreasing and the "guards" decided this morning to hold off on a liver biopsy, pending re-testing over the weekend. Nausea remains a major problem- we thought for a while that it was caused by the rocking machine that turns her bed into more of a boat in heavy seas every ten minutes- apparently it stops patients getting blisters on their 'bits'- but it is more gastric than aquatic. She can at least alleviate it by taking the anti-nausea medicine half an hour before eating anything. Unfortunately she can't use the anti-nausea medicine which worked for her last summer, because it is particularly hard on the liver. More of her medicines are being withdrawn and she is showing encouraging signs of irritation with the prison routine here. We are seriously beginning to hope that she may be "pardoned" or at least "paroled" at the end of next week. Her throat and mouth are really healing now and as I write this I can see 'stubble' emerging from what (ex) Technician Trev would call her "polished pate." If the rate of regrowth of her hair is about the same as the regrowth of her stomach lining, then that could help to explain the persistent nausea.
Many of our American and Australian readers may not be aware of the identity of (ex) Technician Trev. Prior to his tranatlantic sacking this morning for suggesting that I compensate with furniture polish for my lack of skull epidermal cylindrical, keratinized pigmented filaments, he was my faithful principal research assistant in the Cambridge Biochemistry Department for more years than I care to remember.
And for your information Mom Self- Mr Sheen (UK) =Pledge (US)
Finally what more can any man ask on his natal anniversary than the spectacular support of Dad Self !? What a star! By smearing his pate with bacon fat and encouraging Bears to salivate, he made the great sacrifice for the International Shampoo Simplification Campaign. Now Bears will never be so monosecretory in the woods ever again !

All I can say to all of that is...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DAVID!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
If you have been using Mr. Sheen on your bean, better be careful when you light up those birthday candles. That could set off another tradgedy and NYC has had it's fair share of excitement lately.
Prayers for the nausea to fly away, Bev. I'm sure that being at home will do you worlds of good.
Hang in there and hope you'll be home this time next week.
Love ya! ;-) xo
Ok- Happy Birthday to the dad- hope you leos catch a break this week and get to escape from the room! Bev, glad to hear some solids are going down- here's hoping they stay there. You are a champion! Steps closer to margaritas and crab sandwiches. I am amazed to learn your bed moves- the things you don't know! I hope you get out of there soon pumpkin- hold on! No news from Oz- went to the zoo yesterday wiht a friend and her one year old. Saw the giraffes eat their carrots and a young gorilla eating poo. So we have come a long way up the old evolutionaary ladder. Miss you- sending love and healing thoughts, Trina
Hello dearie, so sorry to hear about the nausea--have you tried oyster crackers?
Would love to write more, on our way to the Sterling Forest Renaissance Fair and need to help all in the respective jousting and guinevere costumes--do you believe it? Well I owe Anth big time because he got me Chelsea Market for my book launch, so you must be out with masks on, save the date Sept 10. I finally wore publisher down!
I hope you rec'd my gift, you can share with your Dad, had I known I would have included some sci-fi in there, or Mr Bean.
ok, feel good, that liver best be good to you, and fingers xd for speedy return home. xxxl et al
Hi Bev
Hope you are still managing the nutty butter and that your liver is behaving itself.
Spent yesterday riding horses in hot english sun, and then collapsed on Caitlin's sofa with baby Alfie for company. Not a bad weekend all in all.
Hang in there - looks like sitting on the sofa watching TEVO is nearly a reality again.....
Love ya

ok, had to post again. Renaissance faire was BEYOND!! almost everyone but us was dressed as either wenches/pirates/chainmail suits, etc...hoisting yards of mead and what not. knife throwing, archery, troubadours, but all regular citizens who lead a double life. oddly disturbing and entertaining.
kids had a blast, came home decked out like robin hood and maid marion with the hair braided into crowns.
Point being all the cheesy faux ye olde english made me even more determined that you'll be well enough to go with us the next one!

Hope it was a good Monday for you, Bev. And that soon you'll be reading your blog from home.
Things are going pretty good here. Grandma even squeezed in a trip to get a pedicure. Lisa gets to go tomorrow. And we promised ourselves that next week, we will go to the Trappe for all you can eat crab legs! (We've been saying that for weeks!)
We started Jack and Addie's homeschooling today. Literature consisted of reading several nursery rhymes to them. They were very attentive. Hickory, Dickory Dock seemed to be their favorite. After that they did their phys. ed. class. Tummy time on their Tummy Time mat. They are quite proficient at lying on their stomachs! I saw Olympic potential.
Grandpa will get here on Thursday. We are all so eager to see his first meeting with the grand babies. So exciting!!
Hope to hear that you'll be sprung and home real soon!
Love, ;-) xo
